Apple has delivered media alerts and special invitations stating that a special event will take place on Thursday July 7th.
Some news sources have noted that the message is off similar style to the message presented prior to the launch of the iPod photo.
According to the reports Apple is asking the media to prepare for new product announcements on or before July 7th.
It is likely that this is the special event that will see the release of iTunes 4.9 but rumours are high that fifth generation iPods and second generation iPod shuffles will also be announced.
It is unknown as to where the event will be held.
