Film Studio Spills Apple’s Movie Store Plans [Updated]

According to reports Apple has been forging deals with numerous film studios to arrange distribution of motion pictures via the iTunes Music Store or some other variant.

One studio by the name of Lion Gates recently let the plans slip during its quarterly conference call, chief exec Jon Feltheimer said that the studio had recently been negotiating with Apple.

"We also have digital delivery deals in place with Cinema Now, MovieLink, and iTunes," Feltheimer said, "with upcoming announcements with at least two more major industry players."

Rumours of a Movie Store have been around for a couple of years, it is still unknown what type of buying structure Apple will aim for but sources claim it will be a rental platform.

[Update] During the question and answer session Steve Beeks of Lion Gates said:

In terms of iTunes movie downloads, I think most likely some time before the end of the year. We know when they are planning on launching, but since they have not announced it publicly, I do not think it is our place to say anything more about that. Calendar year.
