With the release of Apple's new Airport Extreme which features the new faster 802.11n.
The new base stations debuted with the introduction of Apple TV(Images) which is also compatible with the new 802.11n standard.
The new Wi-Fi standard is up to 5 times faster than 802.11g and covers almost twice as much range.
The new Airport Extreme base stations come with a software update enabler for most recent Macs, the compatible systems are:
- iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo processors (excluding the 17-inch, 1.83GHz iMac);
- MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo;
- MacBook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo;
- Mac Pro with AirPort Extreme card option.
