Apple Preparing iMac Re-Design?

AppleInsider reports that Apple has given Jonathan Ive and his team the task of cutting the fat from the current iMac line-up.

Apple last replaced the design of its flagship product in August 2004 at MacExpo Paris, when it transitioned from the famous iMac G4 (sunflower).

AppleInsider reports that Apple reused the current design for the switch to Intel chips as it was under pressure and wished to "get the ball rolling on the next chapter of Apple computing."

The site also reports that the entry-level 17-inch model could be struck from the line-up completely and those familiar with the re-design are confident that it only applies to 20- and 24-inch models.

No precise date was made available as to when the redesign would appear.
