ThinkSecret is reporting that Apple has placed an order for 15.4-inch LED backlit displays with Asian manufacturers. Sources tell ThinkSecret that the news would make the availability of a new MacBook Pro very plausible around WWDC which starts June 11.
According to the report Apple placed its first order for LED displays in mid-April, the order for 100,000 displays went out to several manufacturers including Samsung. The ordered displays are on track for a May delivery, allowing 3-4 weeks to manufacture and ship new machines.
The report notes that Apple has not placed an order for 13.3-inch displays but has been in discussions with multiple manufacturers. Apple is said to be aiming for a third-quarter roll out of the lower-end laptop.
