Gaming: EA Announcement Today, id Shows Off "Rage"

EA Announcement Today

Back in June at WWDC Electronic Arts and id showed up to discuss their plans for the future of gaming on the Mac. Both companies promised to begin delivering more titles and with simultaneous releases.

EA has now put a post up on its Command and Conquer 3 website, inviting visitors to return on August 7 to see a "revolutionised" version of C&C.

As we all know Apple is also set to show off something special today, coincidence?

id Shows Off "Rage"

Yesterday at QuakeCon John Carmack of id showed off a new game called "Rage."

The game takes advantage of id's new technology called idTECH5, it is what Carmack demonstrated during the WWDC keynote in June.

Rage is a first person shooter but differs from other titles such as Doom and Quake. According to Carmack, gameplay-wise, Rage is going to be 50% "run-and-gun" but also with a significant amount of driving action and an adventure component "where you build up your car and add things to it".

The important part to note here is that Rage will be released simultaneously on the Mac, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
