Large Apple Order Reduces NAND Flash Supply

Samsung has reportedly notified "downstream" customers that it begin reducing NAND flash supply to them from July as Apple has placed a large order.

Sources have indicated to DigiTimes that Samsung has secured orders for 50 million 8 gigabit NAND-flash chips. The chips are reportedly for use within Apple's iPhone.

DigiTimes also writes that Apple already secured 25 million 8Gb NAND-flash chips from Samsung in June at the time commenting that ongoing procurement will depend largely on iPhone sales.
