Despite not knowing exactly who is going to carry the iPhone in China the device has now received regulatory approval. Earlier this week it looked certain that China Unicom had struck a deal with Apple but officials from both companies denied that an agreement had been signed.

China's State Radio Regulatory Commission which controls the licensing of wireless communication devices has put a listing on its website for a GSM/WCDMA device with Bluetooth, no WiFi, a model number of A1324 and a manufacturer of "Apple Inc." According to the listing the device was approved on May 7th, 2009.
