Apple has today on a predictable bi-weekly cycle although later than usual released the fourth beta of iPhone OS 4.0 which was originally released at a media event held by Apple earlier this month.
iPhone OS 4.0 beta 4 build 8A274b is a 365MB download for the iPhone 3GS and 292MB for the iPhone 3G and is only available to registered iPhone developers.
The OS beta release is also accompanied with a new SDK beta.
iPhone OS 4.0 is a major OS release from Apple due out for the iPhone and iPod touch in the summer and to follow for the iPad in fall. The major OS update introduces over 100 new features and seven major features:
- Multitasking
- App Folders
- Enhanced Mail app
- iBooks for iPhone and iPod touch
- Enhanced enterprise features
- Game Center
- iAd
