Evidence found by Mac Rumors points towards elements of Apple's MobileMe service turning free. The evidence found in the latest iOS 4.2.1 build shows that Apple could be preparing to offer a free MobileMe product alongside the current paid membership.
The evidence found in a new AppleAccounts.framework file includes errors messages including, "the maximum number of free accounts" for a device and certain devices not being "qualified for free MobileMe service".
Mac Rumors adds that the file has been localised for dozens of languages and is not present in iOS 4.1. In addition Mac Rumors points out that the MobileMe Mail service could remain part of the paid membership with the following error being found in the system: "This Apple ID cannot be used for MobileMe Mail, but you can use it for other MobileMe services."
The evidence could suggest that Apple will begin offering MobileMe services such as over-the-air syncing and Find My iPhone for free whilst still charging for the iDisk and MobileMe Mail.
