In the second report this week about the second generation iPad industry newspaper DigiTimes has outed Coretronic as the supplier of the backlight units (BLUs) for the upcoming iPad. According to sources Coretronic who declined to comment on the matter will supply BLUs to Chimei Innolux and LG who will supply the LCD panels.
Earlier this week DigiTimes reported that the second generation iPad will begin shipping towards the end of the first quarter of 2011 with Apple expecting manufacturers to begin shipping units at the end of February.
The report quashes previous rumours that the next generation iPad would have an OLED display.
