In a somewhat vague and short post on the AllThingsD blog, Kara Swisher has predicted that Apple will hold an event for the iPad 2 next week, on March 2. The rumour does not state when the iPad 2 would start shipping but says that it would be "unveiled".
Swisher who has followed the tech industry closely for many years and who presumably has solid contacts offers little detail on what the new iPad would hold, simply referring to previously released rumours.
Swisher points to the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco as the "likely" venue, which has no listed events for March 2.
If Apple was to be hosting an event on March 2 expect the company to issue invites to members of the media by the weeks end.
[Update] Reuters is now independently reporting that Apple is set to unveil the next generation iPad on March 2.
[Update 2] The New York Times has also now posted an article stating that the next iPad will be unveiled next week on March 2. The paper clarifies that it is still unknown when the iPad 2 will be available.
