In a comment to The Loop on Monday Apple said that demand for the iPad 2 was "amazing". The latest version of the iPad went on sale in the US on Friday, March 11 and as of the end of the weekend was sold out in every retail store in the country. Apple's online store is also estimating that iPad orders will arrive in 3-4 weeks.
A spokesperson told The Loop that “Demand for the next generation iPad 2 has been amazing,” adding “We are working hard to get iPad 2 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible.”
Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster believes that the iPad 2 sold out completely by Saturday, his report also highlighted how around 70 percent of iPad 2 buyers were new iPad owners.
