
On Friday the second-generation iPad went on sale in 25 new countries across the world, by Saturday afternoon it would appear that the majority of stock had run dry in all of those countries.
The iPad 2 which launched in the US on March 11 went on sale in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK on Friday.
According to Pocket-lint the two London flagship stores were completely out of stock by Saturday afternoon and remained that way on Sunday. The site also reports that Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol were also out of stock. Reports from other European countries suggested that stock was very low by the end of Saturday.
Many third-party retailers in the UK, which initially had very low stock had their supplies run out rapidly. With almost none having any stock by Saturday morning.
Apple online store across all countries which current have the iPad 2 estimate that orders will ship in 3-4 weeks.
