Apple UK Offers Free Summer Camp

Apple UK today announced a series of Summer Camps for children at UK retail stores.

Apple promises two and a half hours of fun activities at the free morning events, those taking part will be able to take their finished products home on CD or DVD.

Campers will receive a T-Shirt, field journal, field guide, sticker, name tag and certificate of achievement.

Four camps are available covering: Podcasting, iWeb, Music and Movies.

Music

Get ready for our Music Workshop, where campers pull beats and rhythms out of their heads and make music to share with everyone. Along the way, you’ll explore iTunes and find out how to sync an iPod. Learn how to create your own music using GarageBand, a MIDI keyboard and your own vocals. After your standing-room-only concert, you’ll take a bow and walk off stage with your latest hit on CD.

This workshop is geared for kids with beginner to advanced computer skills who are aspiring musicians and music enthusiasts.

Movies

The director’s chair is waiting in our Movie Workshop, where campers learn how to make a movie in the time it takes to watch one. From importing and cropping video clips to adding cool special effects and transitions, you’ll leave as an up-and-coming filmmaker with the movie you’ve just made on DVD.

This Workshop is geared for kids with intermediate to advanced computer skills who have an interest in filmmaking. Prior iMovie experience is not required.

iWeb

You’ve made your movie, mixed your song, recorded your podcast. Now, how are you going to share them with the world? With your very own Web site of course. In the iWeb workshop, you’ll learn how to make and publish a Web site that puts your creativity on display with your pictures, music, movies and podcasts. And what’s a Web site these days without a blog? You’ll learn how to create that, too.

This Workshop is geared for kids with beginner to advanced computer skills who have an interest in Web page creation. Prior iWeb experience is not required.

Podcasting

You have a story to tell. Or maybe you want to share your interests or your points of view with the world. There’s no better way to get yourself heard than with a podcast. The Podcast Workshop will show you how easy it is to create one with GarageBand. You’ll learn how to record and edit yourself, how to add music and photos, and when you’ve finished, how to send your podcast to iTunes.

This Workshop is geared for kids with intermediate to advanced computer skills who have an interest in podcasting. Prior Garageband experience is not required.
