Earlier today Apple announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference will run from June 6-10. Within the press release this morning Apple took particular care to mention that Apple will focus on iOS and Mac OS.

Whilst WWDC in the past three years has played host to Apple's iPhone hardware announcement, Jim Dalrymple writes that he does not expect Apple to announce any hardware during this years show. Dalrymple who is a veteran in the Apple world and very well connected says that WWDC will be "a software show in 2011, not a hardware event."

In an ongoing discussion on Twitter, Editor at large of Macworld magazine, Jason Snell, also chimed in saying that, "This is going to be an OS focused event."

Earlier today World of Apple kicked off the rumour mill with a roundup of the current crop of rumours, if Apple is truly going to part from its past pattern of June iPhone launches it is difficult to say when Apple will do so.
