Tomorrow Apple will host an event for select members of the media and is widely expected to unveil a new iPad. Alongside this Cult of Mac speculates that Apple could also reveal a cloud-based MobileMe service.
The Apple staffer, who asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons, said the new MobileMe service will store music, TV shows, and films that were purchased from the iTunes store. The staffer also said that there was talk inside Apple of being able to upload all your music and videos to the cloud whether it was purchased from iTunes or not. However, they couldnt confirm whether this will be rolled out or not.
Last week Apple removed MobileMe boxes from its retail channel and last year some aspects of MobileMe that were previously part of the paid product turned free.
Within the report it is also noted that the expected iPad update is more of an interim bump to the specifications of the current iPad and Apple will introduce a more significant refresh later in the year. Rumours of an "iPad 3" announcement in September were kicked off by speculation by John Gruber last month.
Apple will begin tomorrows event at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts in San Francisco at 10:00 am Pacific time. The event will also be simulcast to European members of the media at the BBC Televison Centre in London at 6:00 pm GMT.
